Doug Buchanan was born and raised in Austin, Texas, graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Land Use Planning.

Doug began his oil & gas career in the Marcellus and Utica Shale Plays of Western Pennsylvania & the Ohio Valley, where he performed all phases of field land work supporting the oil & natural gas drilling programs of Hunt Oil Company, Rex Energy and Eclipse Resources. Back in Midland, TX by 2013, Doug worked independently as a Landman, again for Hunt Oil Company, Cimarex Energy, and Pioneer Natural Resources in the Permian Basin before joining the Wells Fargo Private Bank as a Trust Department Landman.

Doug has successfully negotiated more than $150 million one-time bonuses for his clients across more than 70 counties in 12 states. Doug’s family first got into the oil & gas industry after the 1922 discovery of the Kevin-Sunburst Oil & Natural Gas field near Sweetgrass, Montana.

As a long-time member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and Permian Basin Landmen’s Association (PBLA), Doug has volunteered on numerous committees including, the Field Landman and Awards Committees with AAPL, and the Eric Hanson Memorial Clay Shoot Committee for the PBLA. Doug currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Family Promise of Midland, Inc., where he serves as the board’s vice president. https://www.familypromiseofmidland.com/
